Reliance Jio Infocomm has announced that it plans to roll out high-speed 5G telecom services across India by the end of 2023. Akash Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Jio, stated that the company is on a path to achieve its goal of increasing the Jio 5G footprint every month, aiming to cover every town, taluka, and tehsil across India by December 2023. This is a huge undertaking and will be the world’s fastest 5G rollout, according to the company.
The Indian Mobile Congress Event on October 1, 2022, saw the formal inauguration of 5G services in India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. In just under six months, the industry has retooled itself, and 5G services are being rolled out to every corner of the country. Reliance Jio is leading the way in 5G network rollouts, with the world’s largest Stand Alone Network Architecture, which is perfectly suited to meet the requirements of true 5G technology.
Jio has already launched its 5G services in 277 cities, and the government has issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers, asking them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services in the country. The Department of Telecom received total bids worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore from the 5G spectrum auction.
So, what exactly is 5G, and how is it different from the current 3G and 4G services? 5G is the fifth-generation mobile network capable of transmitting large data sets at a very high speed. In comparison to 3G and 4G, 5G has a very low latency, which will enhance user experiences in various sectors. Low latency describes the efficiency of processing a very high volume of data messages with a minimal delay.
The pan-India 5G rollout is also expected to bring about more development in remote data monitoring in a range of sectors, including mining, warehousing, telemedicine, education, manufacturing, and agriculture, among others.
