How to enable Telnet on Windows Device?

Telnet is not a secure protocol and its use is discouraged, especially over unsecured networks. Alternative secure protocols such as SSH are recommended for remote access.


  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Go to “Programs and Features”.
  3. Click on “Turn Windows features on or off”.
  4. Find “Telnet Client” in the list of Windows features.
  5. Check the box next to “Telnet Client” to enable it.
  6. Click “OK” to confirm and install the feature.
  7. Wait for the installation process to complete.
  8. Close the “Turn Windows features on or off” window.
